Born in 1950, Robert got a Diploma in 1977, a PhD degree in 1983 in Physics from the University of Frankfurt / Germany, respectively. After joining the Institute for Communications Technology at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) as research staff member in 1978, he became head of the 'Communications Systems' department in 1985 and, in addition, of 'Communications Theory' department in 1993. He spent one year at INTELSAT, Washington D.C., USA from 1991 to 1992. Robert teaches short courses on spread spectrum at the Carl-Cranz Gesellschaft and gave lectures on digital mobile communication and digital satellite communication at the universities of Frankfurt and Essen. His expertise comprises satellite system design and analysis, satellite communication at the 20/30/40 GHz frequency range, signal structures and corresponding receiver design, including channel estimation, equalisation, synchronisation, demodulation and decoding, for MF-TDM(A) and spread spectrum/CDM(A) systems covering applications like point-to-multipoint communication (e.g. INTELSAT standards), Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), UMTS, and satellite navigation systems. |
Born in 1961, Thomas got a Diploma in
1988 from the Technical University of Stuttgart / Germany, a PhD degree
in 1995 in Electrical Engineering from the University of Munich / Germany,
respectively. Thomas teaches short courses on digital modulation and on the basic signal processing in navigation receivers at the Carl-Cranz Gesellschaft. His expertise comprises analysis and modelling of mobile satellite and terrestrial wireless channels, signal structures and corresponding receiver design, including channel estimation, equalisation, synchronisation, demodulation and decoding, for MF-TDM(A) and spread spectrum/CDM(A) systems covering applications like point-to-multipoint communication (e.g. INTELSAT standards), Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), UMTS, and satellite navigation systems. |
