AUDENS ACT supported several industrial customers in the air interface and corresponding receiver design of different Multi-Frequency TDMA systems. In one example the emphasis of the work was the design of receiver algorithms that allow the reception of dozens of carrier frequencies with customary FPGA’s. The design comprised the unique word based burst acquisition, ensuing clock-, frequency-, and carrier phase synchronisation with subsequent channel decoding. The solution was developed in close cooperation with the FPGA designer going through several iterative steps, until finally a design was fixed that satisfies the performance requirements as well as fits in the target FPGA size. In another project a complete new air interface was developed including
a burst structure that allows supporting very power efficient Turbo
codes with an information block length starting from 100 bits up to
several thousands. In addition, a combined carrier frequency / phase
synchronisation and decoding algorithm was developed that maintains
the performance of the Turbo codes at very low signal-to-noise ratios. |
